Starax Statosky
From virtualartpedia
Starax Statosky was a prominent Second Life sculptor and artist. His works were often whimsical, detailed, representational pieces which depicted fantastical creatures and objects. He was born in Second Life on December 23, 2003, and left in fall of 2006. His works may be seen at various places in Second Life, and were featured prominently in the Second Life Anniversary exhibits in the fall of 2007. The person behind Starax has, it is alleged in a September 2007 article, returned to SL as an avatar named Light Waves.
Starax left Second Life in 2006, allegedly after an update in the SL operating program made unstable his preeminent display item, a wand which could rez any of a large number of his sculptures at will. The September 2007 article suggests that this was only one of the motivating factors behind the departure.
In Fall, 2007, Oyster Bay Sculpture Garden and Aquarium held a rotating retrospective exhibit of his work in conjunction with Tayzia Abattoir's Crescent Museum. Some of his works were offered free during this event.
He was voted Best Artist in the Creation Arts, Best of SL Art 2007.
