He rezzed in Second Life in September 2006 and initially explored the possibilities of virtual real estate brokering as a "mini-Chung" through his Morris Vig Properties. Vig's success in the real estate market was largely mixed, and he found that success in the business involved a level of commercial activity that was restrictive on his ability to explore Second Life.
Morris also met a few folks along the way. First and foremost was Ana Herzog, who introduced Vig to the great work at Better World Island - but whose shop adjoined the gallery of an SL sculptor, Cheen Pitney.
One of Vig's last Morris Vig Properties purchases was a small waterfront lot in the Oyster sim at the Shepherd sim line. He built a small house with a pier over the water and, noticing his neighbor's impressive underwater build, went about building a similar undersea construction. He stocked his underwater property with marine life from Kaikou Splash's Splash Aquatics.
The adjoining property on the Oyster waterfront soon went on the market, and it was purchased by a commercial real estate developer who was making design decisions that led Vig to believe that an unsightful build was in the offing. Vig then entered into negotiations with the owner and purchased the property.
With this unexpected windfall, Vig was then faced with the question of what to do with his property. He considered the issues of a Second Life environment that was filled with gambling, adult entertainment and nondescript commercial venues. Second Life in November 2006 was still largely confined to two mainland continents (with a healthy number of private islands). The inland lake that the Oyster sim sat upon was a major draw for wandering explorers and new residents - especially the coastline that drew significant real estate exploratory traffic.
